Regular Season Round 17: Hamar - Armann 124-109
Date: January 27, 2023
Very expected game when 9th ranked Armann (4-7) was defeated on the road by second ranked Hamar (14-3) 124-109. The game was mostly controlled by Hamar. Armann was better in second period 29-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. Spanish point guard Jose Medina (185-1993) nailed a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 10 assists and 5 steals (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and the former international center Ragnar Nathanaelsson (220-1991) accounted for 18 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Arnor Hermannsson (192-1998) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists and naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-1990) added 23 points and 5 assists respectively for Armann in the defeat. Four Hamar and five Armann players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hamar have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-3 record behind leader Alftanes. Newly promoted Armann keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Hamar will play against Fjolnir (#7) in Reykjavik in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Armann will play at home against Selfoss and hopes to get back on the winning track.
