Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Nantes (8-8) edged at home 12th ranked Quimper UJAP (7-10) 81-78 on Friday. Nantes made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Nantes outrebounded Quimper UJAP 33-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. American guard JaCori Payne (180-1996, college: Columbus St.) stepped up and scored 28 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and American-Jamaican center Ryan Rhoomes (203-1992, college: Fordham) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Quentin Ruel (202-1999, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 21 points and British forward Ashley Hamilton (201-1988, college: LMU) scored 12 points. Quimper UJAP's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nantes moved-up to ninth place. Loser Quimper UJAP keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with ASA. Nantes will meet La Rochelle (#14) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Quimper UJAP will play against Saint Vallier and hope to secure a win.
