Regular Season Round 17: Chalons-Reims - Chalon/Saone 78-79

The most exciting game of round 17 in the ProB took place in Reims. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Chalons-Reims (10-7) to first ranked Chalon/Saor (13-4) 79-78 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chalons-Reims. The best player for the winners was Slovenian Luka Lapornik (195-1988, agency: PEPI SPORT) who scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Lionel Gaudoux (198-1995) chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Chalon/Saor's coach Savo Vucevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Timothe Crusol (192-2001) produced 13 points and 7 assists and American point guard Marquis Jackson (183-1994, college: Ohio Christian) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Chalons-Reims players scored in double figures. Chalon/Saor have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-4 record. Chalons-Reims at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Antibes. Chalon/Saor are looking forward to face league's second-placed JA Vichy on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chalons-Reims will play against Entente Orleans 45 (#11) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
