There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Vigarano (5-11) beat at home higher ranked Matelica (10-6) 72-68 on Saturday. Vigarano made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. The winners were led by power forward Ludovica Sammartino (183-2005) who scored that evening 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Isabella Olajide (183-2000) supported her with 8 points and 14 rebounds. Even 30 points by Argentinian point guard Debora Gonzalez (170-1990, agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Matelica. Point guard Benedetta Gramaccioni (174-1998) added 22 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vigarano moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Alpo. Loser Matelica keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Battipaglia. Vigarano will meet higher ranked Firenze (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Matelica will play against the league's leader Empoli having rather not much hope for a victory.
