Regular Season Round 16: GEIG - Barna 61-59

There was a small surprise in Girona where tenth ranked GEIG (7-9) edged 8th ranked Barna (7-9) 61-59 on Saturday. Forward Vanessa Gonzalez (184-1994) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Nuria Bagaria (171-1999) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of her seven free throws). Laura Tierno (-1995) produced 12 points and 4 assists and Paula Casadevall (-1997) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. GEIG have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Barna and Leon. GEIG will meet Sant Adria (#12) on the road in the next round. Barna's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona Segle XXI.
