Very predictable result in San Cristobal where fifth ranked Gernika (10-9) smashed bottom-ranked Tenerife (2-17) 79-51 on Saturday. Gernika dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tenerife's 26. They outrebounded Tenerife 40-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brooque Williams (172-1989, college: California, PA) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Croatian forward Andrijana Cvitkovic (190-1994, college: Dayton) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Aisha Sheppard (175-1998, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Green Sports Management) who recorded 12 points and Hungarian Krisztina Raksanyi (183-1991) added 12 points respectively. Tenerife's coach Claudio Garcia gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gernika maintains fifth position with 10-9 record. Tenerife lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Gernika will meet at home IDK Eustotren (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Tenerife will play against Cadi La Seu (#11) in Seu D'urgell and hope to secure a win.
