Regular Season Round 20: Picken Claret - Alcobendas 60-68

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Alcobendas (12-8) defeated 14th ranked Picken Claret (6-14) in Valencia 68-60 on Saturday. Alcobendas made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Rachel Howard (178-1995, college: USF) who scored that evening 14 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Clara Rodriguez (184-1996) supported her with 5 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 26 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Areanna Combs (178, college: EMU) did not help to save the game for Picken Claret. Canadian-Polish center Zayn Urbaniak-Dornstauder (190-1997, college: SDSU) added 16 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alcobendas maintains sixth position with 12-8 record. Newly promoted Picken Claret keeps the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. Alcobendas will meet at home higher ranked Joventut (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Picken Claret will play against Real Canoe (#9) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
