Rather predictable result when eleventh ranked Alpo (5-11) won against 13th ranked Ponzano (3-13) in Veneto 75-70 on Saturday. Alpo forced 21 Ponzano turnovers. The winners were led by guard Elisa Mancinelli (177-1993) who scored that evening 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and guard Anna Turel (174-2002) supported her with 11 points and 5 assists. Four Alpo players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds by Swedish swingman Amanda Tivenius (182-1996, college: CS Fullerton) did not help to save the game for Ponzano. Swingman Marta Pellegrini (178-2002) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Ponzano's coach Matteo Gambarotto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alpo moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Vigarano. Loser Ponzano keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Alpo will meet at home higher ranked Udine (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ponzano will play against the league's second-placed Scrivia (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
