Everything went according to plan in Oslo where second ranked Gimle (17-5) outscored 9th ranked Oppsal (5-15) 112-84 on Saturday. They outrebounded Oppsal 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Gimle shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international swingman Espen Fjaerestad (193-1994, college: UW-Parkside) fired 29 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Jorgen Odfjell (197-2000) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. American center Jacob Tryon (211-1998, college: Samford) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and Etienne Aspevik added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Gimle and four Oppsal players scored in double figures. Oppsal's coach Jarl Jespersen gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gimle have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader Kongsberg. Newly promoted Oppsal keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. Gimle will meet at home Asker Aliens (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oppsal will play against Nidaros Jets in Tromdheim and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
