Regular Season Round 12: Cactus - Vera 82-71

No shocking result in a game in Tbilisi where first ranked Cactus (9-2) defeated bottom-ranked Vera (2-9) 82-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cactus. Vera managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cactus won last quarter 27-18. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Cactus outrebounded Vera 46-34 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Jason Copman (198-1998, college: Dominican, NY) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Cedrick Alley Jr (198, college: UTSA) who added 18 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Cactus players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Luka Zakradze (193-1996) with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and American center Derrick Nix (203-1990, college: Michigan St., agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Cactus maintains first position with 9-2 record. Vera lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Cactus will meet Batumi (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Vera will play against Rustavi (#4) and hope to secure a win.
