There was an upset in Pontevedra where higher ranked Arxil (9-7) was defeated by tenth ranked Leon (7-9) 69-64 on Saturday. Leon forced 31 Arxil turnovers. Strangely Arxil outrebounded Leon 37-21 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Dominican Cesarina Capellan (178-2003) fired 27 points for the winners. Marina Fernandez-Pacheco (-2000) chipped in 22 points and 7 steals. Nerea Liste (-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and North Macedonian forward Nena Trajchevska (183-1994) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leon moved-up to ninth place, which they share with GEIG and Barna. Loser Arxil keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Almeda. Leon will meet at home higher ranked Unicaja (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Arxil will play against Granada and hope to secure a win.
