Regular Season Round 18: Kibirkstis-MRU - Neptunas 99-74

The most interesting game of round 17 was a derby match between two teams from Lithuania. The game took place in Vilnius where third ranked Kibirkstis-MRU outleveled visiting Neptunas (9-3) 99-74. They outrebounded Neptunas 38-27 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kibirkstis-MRU shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Power forward Gintare Petronyte (195-1989) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Swingman Justina Miknaite (180-2001) contributed with 20 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Kibirkstis-MRU players scored in double figures. Cameroonian swingman Linda Ndoli (193-1995, agency: DC Sports) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Brigita Sinickaite (175-2001) added 15 points in the effort for Neptunas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kibirkstis-MRU (11-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending Lithuanian champion (11-2) moved-up to second place. Neptunas at the other side keep the fourth position with three games lost. Kibirkstis-MRU are again looking forward to face Neptunas (#4) in Klaipeda in the next round. Neptunas will play at home against Siauliai and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
