Regular Season Round 18: Giannena - Eunikos 84-48

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Giannena and 9th ranked Eunikos had identical 5-12 record. This time Giannena used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Liosa 84-48 on Sunday night. Giannena dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Eunikos' 28. Giannena forced 19 Eunikos turnovers and outrebounded them 43-26 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Cameroonian forward Marina Ewodo (188-1998, college: UC Riverside) scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Terae Briggs (190-1997, college: Nevada) chipped in 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Bosnian guard Milica Deura (178-1990) scored 11 points. Eunikos' coach Giorgos Veltsistas gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Giannena have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Newly promoted Eunikos dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Giannena will meet higher ranked Niki Lefkadas (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eunikos will play against Dafni Agioy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
