The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Iraklis as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (AO Triton) loss. Iraklis defeated leader AO Triton in Thessaloniki 81-66. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Iraklis forced 23 AO Triton turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Dimitris Charitopoulos (205-1983) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Dutch Nikos Paparegkas (200-1994) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Michalis Kamperidis (206-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian Nemanja Manojlovic (197-1993) scored 10 points and 5 assists. AO Triton's coach Margarita Malama rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated AO Triton. AO Triton will play next round against Amyntas trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena of Amyntas. Iraklis will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Panerythraikos at New Eritrea.
