We should mention about the upset which took place in Sassari, where 4th placed Pesaro (10-7) was outleveled in a road game by tenth ranked Sassari (8-9) 110-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pesaro. Sassari shot 65.6 percent from the field. They outrebounded Pesaro 32-21 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sassari shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 70.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American point guard Chris Dowe (189-1991, college: Bellarmine, agency: GoEmpire Group) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import Jamal Jones (203-1993, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Sassari players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Leonardo Tote (211-1997) answered with 17 points and American power forward Kwan Cheatham Jr (206-1995, college: Akron) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pesaro. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sassari moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Pesaro at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Varese. Sassari will play against higher ranked Trento (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pesaro will play against Reggio Emilia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
