Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Palermo (3-13) was outscored on the road by thirteenth ranked Ragusa (6-11) 107-68 on Sunday. Ragusa dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Palermo's 42. They outrebounded Palermo 34-21 including 29 on the defensive glass. Ragusa looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Palermo's players. Naturalized Maltese center Kurt Cassar (208-1999) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Franco Gaetano (202-1999, agency: Players Group) accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Montenegrin Nikola Markus (200-1996) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Andrea Birra (187-2002) added 14 points respectively for Palermo in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ragusa moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Teramo. Palermo lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with 13 games lost. Ragusa will meet higher ranked Vicenza (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Palermo will play against Desio (#6) and hope to secure a win.
