Regular Season Round 11: Villeneuve - Tarbes 84-55

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Villeneuve as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Villeneuve smashed 7th ranked Tarbes at home 84-55. They outrebounded Tarbes 34-22 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Villeneuve looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Belgian point guard Hind Ben-Abdelkader (172-1995, college: California) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points. International point guard Caroline Heriaud (165-1996, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) helped adding 10 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Five Villeneuve players scored in double figures. Villeneuve's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Marie Pardon (177-2001, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) responded with 6 points and 12 assists and the former international center Isabelle Yacoubou (190-1986) scored 13 points. Villeneuve have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Bourges and Lyon. Tarbes at the other side keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Landes and Angers. Tarbes will play next round against Bretagne trying to get back on the winning streak. Villeneuve will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Lyon on the road.
