There was a small surprise in Lugo where fourteenth ranked Ensino (7-12) beat 11th ranked Gran Canaria (8-11) 89-75 on Sunday. Ensino looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Paula Ginzo (187-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Laura Aliaga (182-1994) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese forward Sokhna Fall (185-2003, college: Casper CC) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2002) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively. Ensino moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Jairis. Loser Gran Canaria dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Cadi La Seu and IDK Eustotren. Ensino will meet higher ranked Barca CBS (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gran Canaria will play against Estudiantes (#7) and hope to secure a win.
