Regular Season Round 19: Fjolnir - Haukar 46-91

The game in Reykjavik supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Haukar (15-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Fjolnir (5-14). Haukar smashed Fjolnir 91-46. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fjolnir to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Haukar dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Fjolnir's 18. Haukar forced 22 Fjolnir turnovers and outrebounded them 47-31 including 35 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Haukar players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Tinna Alexandersdottir (177-2003) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. American guard Keira Robinson (170-1994, college: VCU) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lithuanian guard Urte Slavickaite (171-1997) responded with 18 points and center Heidur Karlsdottir (193-2005) scored 6 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haukar maintains third place with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Keflavik. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Haukar will play against Njardvik (#4) at home in the next round. Fjolnir's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena Valur.
