An exciting game was played in Helsinki. Seagulls faced Kouvot. Host Seagulls smashed guests from Kouvola 98-70. The game was mostly controlled by Seagulls. Kouvot managed to win third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Seagulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Kouvot's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Seagulls made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Robert Hall III (193-1995, college: Cameron) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. The other American import swingman Jeffrey Carroll (198-1994, college: OK State) chipped in 19 points. Seagulls' coach Jussi Laakso felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Hannes Polla (211-1998, college: UT Martin) produced 8 points and 18 rebounds and American guard Deshon Taylor (188-1996, college: Fresno St.) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Seagulls are looking forward to face Kataja in Joensuu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kouvot will play at home against Vilpas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
