Regular Season Round 4: Dinamo - Gtuni 64-89
Date: February 1, 2023
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Gtuni (#2) and Dinamo (#5). Dinamo was smashed at home by 25 points 64-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Gtuni led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gtuni outrebounded Dinamo 45-34 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Eddie Hunt (201-1996, college: Limestone) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Canadian guard Kamar McKnight (193-1996, college: Coppin St.) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Hunt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. DR Congolese forward Steve Kuminga (198-1996, college: CCC, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Nikoloz Totladze (170-2004) added 17 points in the effort for Dinamo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gtuni have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Dinamo at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with ATSU. Gtuni will play against league's leader Orbi in Tkibuli in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dinamo's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi ATSU.
