Regular Season Round 23: Rouen - Mulhouse 99-59

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked Mulhouse's (15-8) road loss to first ranked SPO Rouen (19-4) 59-99 on Friday. SPO Rouen dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Mulhouse's 18. SPO Rouen forced 19 Mulhouse turnovers and outrebounded them 39-21 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Mulhouse's players. The best player for the winners was American-Jamaican Andell Cumberbatch (195-1993, college: St.Bonaventure) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Moroccan forward Karim Gourari (203-1989) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Five SPO Rouen players scored in double figures. SPO Rouen's coach Sylvain Delorme felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maltese-American forward Aaron Falzon (203-1996, college: Quinnipiac) produced 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Yannis Mendy (203-1996, college: RMU, agency: Helping Ballers) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for SPO Rouen. They maintain first place with 19-4 record. Loser Mulhouse dropped to the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Caen and Le Havre. SPO Rouen will meet Andrezieux (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mulhouse will play against STB Le Havre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
