Regular Season Round 18: Armann - Selfoss 86-75

There was an upset in Reykjavik where higher ranked Selfoss (9-9) were defeated by ninth ranked Armann (5-7) 86-75 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-75. Point guard Arnor Hermannsson (192-1998) scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Eyjolfur Halldorsson (196-1998) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Arnaldur Grimsson (195-2002) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (203-1984, college: UT Martin) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five Armann and four Selfoss players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Armann moved-up to eighth place. Selfoss lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with Skallagrimur. Armann will meet at home higher ranked Skallagrimur (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Selfoss will play against Fjolnir in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
