The game in Bembibre was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Avenida (15-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Bembibre (9-11). Avenida did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 66-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bembibre. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian forward Bridget Carleton (185-1997, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Greek forward Maria Fasoula (196-1997, college: Vanderbilt) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Avenida players scored in double figures. American swingman Erin Whalen (185, college: Dayton) answered with 19 points and the other American import center Vanessa Austin (185, college: CSUB) added 7 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Bembibre. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Avenida. Defending champion maintains third place with 15-5 record having just one point less than leader Girona. Bembibre at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Cadi La Seu and IDK Eustotren. Avenida will play against Cadi La Seu (#9) in Seu D'urgell in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bembibre will play on the road against Estudiantes in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
