Everything went according to plan in Barcelona where fourth ranked Segle XXI (12-5) outleveled 10th ranked Barna (7-10) 88-54 on Saturday. Segle XXI dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Barna's 26. Segle XXI forced 24 Barna turnovers and outrebounded them 42-23 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Barna's players. Forward Blau Tor (182-2005) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and point guard Iyana Martin (172-2006) chipped in 12 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Five Segle XXI players scored in double figures. Carla Grau (-1998) responded with 13 points and Anna Flores (-2001) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Segle XXI have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Viladecans and Sant Josep. Barna lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with GEIG and Leon. Segle XXI will meet at home GEIG (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Barna's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Barcelona to the arena Viladecans.
