Regular Season Round 17: Martinenc - Roser 74-85

There was a small surprise in Barcelona where eighth ranked Roser (9-7) defeated 5th ranked Martinenc (9-7) 85-74 on Saturday. Roser had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Adria Cortegano (185-2000) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Jonel Palou (195-1988) chipped in 11 points. Guard Aboubakar Samake (188-1998) responded with 17 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Josep Sole (195-1997) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Roser and four Martinenc players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Roser. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Martinenc. Roser will meet at home league's second-placed Barca 2 in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Martinenc will play against Olivar in Zaragoza and hope to secure a win.
