Everything went according to plan when third ranked Venezia (16-3) outscored on the road 13th ranked Brescia (2-17) 78-50 on Saturday. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Brescia's 18. American forward Jessica Shepard (193-1996, college: Notre Dame) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Sara Madera (187-2000, agency: Players Group) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Croatian center Lorena Molnar (188-1998) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Brooke Johnson (183-1996, college: UNLV) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Brescia's coach Stefano Zanardi gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Venezia maintains third place with 16-3 record having just two points less than leader Schio. Brescia lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Valdarno. Venezia will meet at home Lucca (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
