Regular Season Round 12: BLMA - Angers 80-52

There was no surprise in Montpellier where 9th ranked Angers (4-8) was crushed by fourth ranked BLMA (9-3) 80-52 on Saturday. BLMA dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Angers' 22 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Angers 40-27 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. BLMA looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Mamignan Toure (183-1994) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 assists and the former international power forward Marieme Badiane (190-1994, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) who added 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four BLMA players scored in double figures. BLMA's coach Valery Demory felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jasmine Bailey (176-1990, college: UIC) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova (193-1993, college: Dayton) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. BLMA moved-up to third place, which they share with Villeneuve. Loser Angers keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hainaut. BLMA will meet Tarbes (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Angers will play against the league's leader Bourges and hope to secure a win.
