Regular Season Round 16: H.Gilboa Galil - H.Haifa 85-67
Date: February 4, 2023
Bottom-ranked Gilboa Galil managed to get a third victory, breaking the eleven-game losing streak. This time they won against eighth-ranked Hapoel Haifa in Gan Ner 85-67. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference suggests that Gilboa Galil is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tony Carr (196-1997, college: Penn St., agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import guard London Perrantes (187-1994, college: Virginia) who added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Gilboa Galil's coach Rami Hadar allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American Xeyrius Williams (206-1997, college: Akron) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American Will Rayman (203-1997, college: Colgate) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gilboa Galil maintains twelfth position with 3-13 record. Hapoel Haifa at the other side dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. Gilboa Galil will play against higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (#7) in Nes Ziyona in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hapoel Haifa will play at home against Galil Elion and hopes to get back on the winning track.
