Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Firenze (10-6) beat at home 10th ranked Vigarano (5-12) 81-70 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Firenze made 14 blocks. The best player for the winners was swingman Flavia De Cassan (175-1998, agency: SLN) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. French center Alexandrine Fegue (193-1997, college: UCSD) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks. Guard Veronica Perini (175-1988) produced 20 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Giulia Cecili (168-1999) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Firenze moved-up to fifth place. Loser Vigarano keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Firenze will meet Ancona (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vigarano will play against San Salvatore and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
