Regular Season Round 24: UMCS Start - Poznan 72-107
Date: February 8, 2023
Everything went according to plan when twelfth ranked Enea Basket (11-13) outplayed bottom-ranked Start 2 (1-23) in Lublin 107-72 on Wednesday. Enea Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Start 2's 38. Enea Basket forced 27 Start 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Start 2's players. The winners were led by swingman Jakub Andrzejewski (187-2004) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Jakub Fiszer (187-1995) supported him with 15 points and 6 assists. Five Enea Basket players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by Sebastian Walda (196-2000) did not help to save the game for Start 2. Power forward Milosz Ziolkowski (202-2003) added 15 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Enea Basket have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Enea Basket maintains twelfth position with 11-13 record. Start 2 lost sixteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Enea Basket will meet at home league's second-placed Gornik in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Start 2 will play against WKK (#15) in Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
