Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Polonia (6-18) lost to second ranked Gornik (18-6) in Walbrzych 71-82 on Wednesday. Gornik forced 21 Polonia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Polonia's players. The winners were led by American forward Arinze Chidom (206-1997, college: UC Riverside) who scored that evening 21 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (211-1993) supported him with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Gornik's coach Marcin Radomski used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) by Damian Szczepanik (198-1997) did not help to save the game for Polonia. Pawel Bogdanowicz (197-1987) added 11 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gornik have an impressive five-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Radom lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Newly promoted Polonia dropped to the sixteenth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Zgorzelec. Gornik will meet Enea Basket (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Polonia will play against AZS PO (#7) and hope to secure a win.
