Regular Season Round 19: Riga/Juniores - Daugavpils 82-71

The most interesting game of round 19 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Tenth ranked Riga/Juniores won against visiting Daugavpils Universitate (2-12) 82-71. They outrebounded Daugavpils Universitate 41-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Franciska Treiliha (177-2004) who led her team to a victory scoring 29 points. Point guard Madara Liepniece (185-2004) helped adding 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Latvian guard Snezana Gleba (169-2004) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and Ukrainian forward Anastasiia Kucheronok (175-2002, agency: BIG) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Riga/Juniores went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Daugavpils Universitate lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. Riga/Juniores are looking forward to face higher ranked Aistes-LSMU (#3) in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Daugavpils Universitate will have a break next round.
