Very predictable result when third ranked Stal (15-5) won against 11th ranked Start (7-12) in Ostrow Wlkp. 78-74 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Stal looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by the former international power forward Damian Kulig (205-1987, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Latvian guard Aigars Skele (193-1992) supported him with 11 points and 9 assists. Even 23 points and 4 assists by American guard Scoochie Smith (188-1994, college: Dayton) did not help to save the game for Start. His fellow American import guard Gabe DeVoe (191-1995, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stal have a solid three-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Slask lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Start keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Stal will meet Enea Astoria (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Start will play against Enea Zastal (#8) and hope to secure a win.
