Regular Season Round 20: Armann - Fjolnir 70-75

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: Fjolnir (#6) and Armann (#8). Armann was defeated at home 70-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Armann trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 20-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-75 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Armann 48-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Canadian power forward Lewis Diankulu (201-1995, college: Queens, NC) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds. Swingman Hilmir Arnarson (195-2005) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Fjolnir's coach Borche Ilievski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Arnor Hermannsson (192-1998) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Illugi Steingrimsson (192-1996) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Armann players scored in double figures. Fjolnir maintains sixth position with 8-11 record. Newly promoted Armann dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. Fjolnir will meet at home higher ranked Skallagrimur (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Armann will play against Hrunamenn (#7) in Fludir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
