There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Saint Chamond (7-13) outscored at home higher ranked Etoile Angers (10-10) 100-80 on Friday. Saint Chamond made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Saint Chamond had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Jonathan Hoyaux (194-1988) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists and center Mathieu Boyer (208-1995) who added 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-1996, college: LSSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists and American-Bahamas forward Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-1993, college: Murray St.) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Saint Chamond moved-up to fourteenth place. Newly promoted Etoile Angers keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Saint Chamond will meet higher ranked Nantes (#9) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Etoile Angers will play against Olympique Antibes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
