Regular Season Round 20: Spojnia - Anwil 93-94

A very close game took place in Stargard between Anwil and Spojnia. Ninth ranked Anwil (10-10) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Spojnia (12-8). Anwil managed to escape with a 1-point win 94-93 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Spojnia. Anwil looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Lee Moore (193-1995, college: UTEP, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored that evening 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import forward Luke Petrasek (206-1995, college: Columbia) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) by American point guard Courtney Fortson (180-1988, college: Arkansas) did not help to save the game for Spojnia. Canadian Brody Clarke (203-1996, college: Alberta) added 12 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anwil maintains ninth position with 10-10 record. Loser Spojnia keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Anwil will meet higher ranked Wilki Morskie (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Spojnia will play against Trefl in Sopot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
