Regular Season Round 25: Kolobrzeg - Tychy 82-83

The most exciting game of round 25 in the 1Liga took place in Kolobrzeg. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Kotwica (14-11) to fourth ranked GKS (17-8) 83-82 on Saturday evening. GKS shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Swingman Karol Kaminski (195-1997) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and Karol Nowakowski (198-1999) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. GKS's coach Tomasz Jagielka used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side naturalized American point guard James Washington (182-1987, college: MTSU) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Mikolaj Kurpisz (203-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GKS maintains fourth place with 17-8 record, which they share with Starogard Gd. Kotwica at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Opole. GKS is looking forward to face higher ranked Dziki (#3) in Warszawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kotwica will play on the road against Kociewskie Diably in Starogard Gdanski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
