There was an upset when higher ranked Murcia 2 (14-8) was smashed at home by thirteenth ranked Jorge Juan (0-17) 86-58 on Saturday. Strangely Murcia 2 outrebounded Jorge Juan 49-30 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mateo Fernandez (-1995) notched 17 points to lead the effort and Antonio Mira supported him with 12 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds by center Ignacio Martinez (203-2000) did not help to save the game for Murcia 2. Swedish Villiam Garcia (202-2004) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Murcia 2 players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Jorge Juan maintains thirteenth position with 0-17 record, which they share with Covadonga. Loser Murcia 2 dropped to the second place with eight games lost. Jorge Juan will meet at home higher ranked Benidorm (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Murcia 2 will play against UAF Lucentum (#5) in Alicante and hope to secure a win.
