There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Estudio (4-11) crushed 11th ranked Santa Cruz (4-12) in Madrid 82-61 on Saturday. Simion Mancebo (200-1994) notched 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and center Alejandro Relano (205-1993) supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by Turkish forward Erkam Kiris (203-1998, college: Davis & Elkins) did not help to save the game for Santa Cruz. Forward Joel Juarez (196-2002, agency: BIG) added 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Santa Cruz's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Estudio moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Murgi. Newly promoted Santa Cruz dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with La Solana. Estudio will meet higher ranked Rivas (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Santa Cruz will play against Daimiel (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
