Regular Season Round 18: Maresme - Lleida 76-70

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Maresme (12-6) defeated 8th ranked Lleida (8-10) in Barcelona 76-70 on Saturday. Maresme made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Point guard Ariadna Magrina (164-1994) notched 17 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and Laia Soler (185-2001, college: Boise St.) supported her with 11 points. Four Maresme players scored in double figures. Even 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by Argentinian-Italian forward Magali Vilches (182-2002) did not help to save the game for Lleida. Maria Cerqueda (-1998) added 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maresme maintains fifth position with 12-6 record. Loser Lleida keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Maresme will meet El Olivar (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lleida will play against Mataro (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
