There was a surprise result in Veneto where thirteenth ranked Ponzano (4-14) defeated higher ranked Carugate (8-10) 66-61 on Saturday. Ponzano forced 21 Carugate turnovers. Swedish swingman Amanda Tivenius (182-1996, college: CS Fullerton) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Marta Pellegrini (178-2002) chipped in 11 points and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Christina Morra (188-2000, college: Wake Forest) with 23 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian forward Iva Belosevic (191-1997, college: UTRGV) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Ponzano moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bolzano AV. Loser Carugate keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Mantova. Ponzano will meet Vicenza (#14) on the road in the next round. Carugate will play against Udine (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
