There was no surprise when 11th ranked Hapoel Eilat (3-14) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Bnei Hasharon (8-9) 91-81 on Sunday. Bnei Hasharon dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Eilat's 32. Bnei Hasharon forced 22 Hapoel Eilat turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Julian Gamble (208-1989, college: Miami, FL, agency: Octagon Europe) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import Maurice Kemp (203-1991, college: ECU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. American forward DJ Funderburk (208-1997, college: NC State) produced 26 points and 9 rebounds and South Sudanese-Australian center Mangok Mathiang (208-1992, college: Louisville, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Bnei Hasharon and five Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with H.Be'er Sheva. Hapoel Eilat lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with H.Gilboa Galil. Bnei Hasharon will meet Hapoel Beer Sheva (#7) on the road in the next round. Hapoel Eilat will play against Gilboa Galil (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
