There was no surprise when 9th ranked Carolinas (6-11) lost on the road to sixth ranked Benidorm (10-6) 77-60 on Sunday. Benidorm outrebounded Carolinas 39-18 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sergio Jimena notched 16 points to lead the effort and point guard Ruben Ballester (184-1979) supported him with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Benidorm players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by forward Carlos Perez (197-1992) did not help to save the game for Carolinas. Forward Ernesto Caro (197-1996) added 7 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Benidorm moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rivas and Eurogaza. Loser Carolinas keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Benidorm will meet Jorge Juan (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Carolinas will play against Infante (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
