Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked CBSFDO (9-6) defeated 10th ranked Gymnastica (2-13) in San Fernando 96-91 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. CBSFDO made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. CBSFDO outrebounded Gymnastica 40-27 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jose Ruiz (200-1997) notched 23 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and Josu Remesal (-1995) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 25 points and 5 rebounds by Mario Linde (185-2002) did not help to save the game for Gymnastica. Forward David Jimenez (197-2004) added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CBSFDO moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Oh!Tels ULB. Gymnastica lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Moraleja. CBSFDO will meet Real Betis 2 (#9) in the next round. Gymnastica will play against the league's leader Huelva CD and hope to secure a win.
