Regular Season Round 18: Zentro Basket - Aridane 90-84

Everything could happen in Madrid at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Zentro Basket and 8th ranked Aridane had identical 8-7 record. This time Zentro Basket used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Los Llanos 90-84 on Sunday night. Zentro Basket shot 24 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Aridane only scored six points from the stripe. Mexican forward Victor Valdes (196-2004) notched 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and swingman Ignacio Ballespin (194-1998) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Five Zentro Basket players scored in double figures. Even 26 points by point guard Alejandro Orozco (189-2004) did not help to save the game for Aridane. Oriol Balsells (187-1995) added 15 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zentro Basket (9-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Aridane dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Tenerife Naut. and Quintanar. Zentro Basket will meet Tenerife Naut. (#8) in the next round. Aridane will play against La Solana and hope to secure a win.
