There was no surprise in Sauoarkrokur where 10th ranked Hottur (7-10) was crushed by fifth ranked Tindastoll (9-8) 109-88 on Monday. The game without a history. Tindastoll led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tindastoll outrebounded Hottur 37-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The former international point guard Sigtryggur Bjornsson (180-1993, college: St.Mary's) stepped up and scored 32 points and 6 assists for the winners and American Keyshawn Woods (192-1996, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Dutch-American Bryan Alberts (196-1994, college: LBSU) responded with 20 points and American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) scored 15 points. Five Tindastoll and four Hottur players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tindastoll maintains fifth place with 9-8 record. Newly promoted Hottur dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Tindastoll will meet Breidablik (#6) in the next round. Hottur will play against the league's second-placed Valur and hope to secure a win.
