An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Athens. Second ranked Panathinaikos faced one of their biggest challengers Promitheas. Host Panathinaikos (13-2) defeated guests from Patras (9-7) 87-79. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Promitheas. Panathinaikos made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Promitheas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Cameroonian guard Paris Lee (183-1995, college: Illinois St.) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Polish Mateusz Ponitka (198-1993) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Lithuanian Arnoldas Kulboka (208-1998) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Anthony Cowan Jr (183-1997, college: Maryland) added 15 points in the effort for Promitheas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-2 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos. Promitheas at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Panathinaikos will play against bottom-ranked Karditsas (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Promitheas will play against PAOK (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
