An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Gdynia. Third ranked Arka Gdynia faced 4th placed Sosnowiec. Host Arka Gdynia (11-8) defeated guests from Sosnowiec (10-8) 76-70. Arka Gdynia forced 21 Sosnowiec turnovers. It was a great evening for American center Kristina Higgins (196-1994, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Swedish swingman Nathalie Fontaine (188-1993, college: Ball St.) helped adding 17 points and 6 assists. Arka Gdynia's coach Jelena Skerovic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Ghanian-American forward Batabe Zempare (191-1994, college: CSUB, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian center Quinn Urbaniak-Dornstauder (193-1995, college: Arizona St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Arka Gdynia maintains third place with 11-8 record having five points less than leader Gorzow Wlkp. Loser Sosnowiec dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Poznan. Arka Gdynia will meet at home Wroclaw (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sosnowiec will play against Bydgoszcz and hope to secure a win.
