The game between closely ranked teams ended with Catz Lappeenranta's (0-21) home loss to Marsky Helsinki (6-15) 58-71. The game was mostly controlled by Marsky Helsinki. Catz Lappeenranta was better in fourth quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Catz Lappeenranta to just 7 points in second quarter. Marsky Helsinki forced 23 Catz Lappeenranta turnovers and outrebounded them 49-35 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Marsky Helsinki players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Fiia Hellsten (183-2005) who led the winners and scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Albina Syla (194-2004) accounted for 7 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. American center Terri Battle (188-1999, college: Tampa) came up with 27 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Sydni Tears (183, college: Talladega) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Catz Lappeenranta in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marsky Helsinki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Catz Lappeenranta will play on the road against Torpan Pojat (#6) in Helsinki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
